Description
Vintage Cambridge Glass Works Elegant Era (1930's) hand blown flared out mouth Keyhole Vase in opaque light pink milk glass. The color was called "Crown Tuscan" when introduced in 1932 and renamed "Coral" in 1935. The latter name was used until the color was discontinued in 1954.At 12 1/4 inches in height and 4 1/4 inches in diameter at the mouth this is one very impressive piece of depression art glass. The intricate keyhole stem and 4 inch diameter base also boosts this elegant era vase's overall appeal. Weight is 1 pound 4 ounces. Cambridge was one of only a few manufacturers at the time who were able to produce a piece of this delicacy and quality.
Although milk glass is generally considered to be opaque, this vase is constructed using relatively thin glass so that using a back light (see photo 12) it actually becomes translucent. The reason for renaming the color to "Coral" is also quite apparent from this picture.
There are 2 small chips at the rim shown in photos 3, 4 and 7. There are no other damages to the vase.
